Mary Shelley is the writer of the original "Frankenstein". What most people don't know is that Frankenstein isn't the name of the green robot-like monster. Victor Frankenstein is the main character in the book written by Mary Shelley at age 17 in the early 1800's. Victor grows up in a wealthy family in Geneva, Switzerland. Throughout his childhood he is very interested in philosophy and ideas on how the world works. Victor attends a university in Ingolstadt, Germany. Here, he takes a class on Chemistry, studies anatomy and physiology. Victor Frankenstein becomes obsessed with the matter of life and death, spending two years completely isolated from the world working on his project. Victor eventually reveals the answers to creating life when he creates a monster that will drag him into a deep depression. The monster immediately frightens Victor to the point where he goes entirely mad. The majority of the book is filled with Victor's thoughts and fears after bringing this monster to life.
Mary Shelley's story was made to be a downright nightmare, but not in the way that most people think.

Divergent
Veronica Roth’s bestselling Divergent was published in 2011, however the book gives no description of itself on the cover. This purposely forces readers to look into a new world without a clue as to what it's all about. Readers are on their own when it comes to finding information about the book. Long story short, the world left after war is small and split up into five categories called factions.
Erudite is the group that values knowledge and despises ignorance. Members of Dauntless are daring and brave and blame human weakness for the ruin of mankind. Amity members are the pacifists of the five, valuing peace over conflict. The Candor faction are the blunt and honest people of the factions and they believe that deception destroys the world. Lastly, the selfless are people of Abnegation that lead pretty dull lives.
When children become of a certain age, they take a test to see which faction they will continue to live in. The test gives a strong suggestion of which choice would be best, but ultimately citizens are free to choose where they'd like to go.
Star character Beatrice Prior takes the test to see that he results are inconclusive. Without a suggestion as to where she should go, Beatrice is forced to come up with a decision on her own. However, she doesn't initially realize how impacting her test results are until she sees her community fall apart. Her test results are inconclusive because she doesn't hold the characteristics of just one of the factions. There's a special name for what she is and a certain danger hanging over her head because of it. The book shows the struggles Beatrice encounters when she attempts to blend in with her new faction.

Macbeth- not so foreign
Not too long ago, my twelfth grade English class finished reading Shakespeare's play Macbeth. When we first started the play I was doubtful about how involved I'd be, considering the fact that it was written how long ago. However, through the skillful teaching of my Macbeth-loving and willing-to-help teacher, I realized that the contents of Macbeth was more interesting than I first predicted. What surprised me the most was how much the concepts of the play related to the world we live in today. The main character, Macbeth, experienced many things that people today can also experience. Manipulation was a big influence on many characters' decision making in Macbeth. In today's society, manipulation can be used to get your parents to let you stay up late or to trick your younger sibling into doing your chores. Another big part of the play was the guilt that the main characters experienced. Macbeth and his wife mostly felt guilt because of the murderers they were responsible for, but guilt can be seen due to countless acts. Cheating on a test could lead you to feel guilty, as well as lying to your parents or taking something that isn't yours. Even though Macbeth was written hundreds of years ago, the concepts and character experiences are still alive.

"The Book Was Way Better Than The Movie"
Why is that? Why are the books always better than the movies? Books take the time to explain every detail, observation, and feeling throughout stories, while movies simply show you. Authors take you through the emotional feelings of the characters and paint pictures in your mind. When you read a book, you experience the story like you're actually there. Unlike movies, to get through a book you are forced to pay attention to every feature of a great scenario, leading you to enjoyment and comprehension at the end of the story. Most people, also, enjoy the books more because the books HAVE more. Movie producers typically leave out supposedly "unnecessary" information to save time. However, the omission of practically any information, when making a movie, leads to an incomplete story. Lastly, some movies take a total new approach when creating the flow of their production. Readers and watchers may notice that the main acts of the book and movie are slightly to majorly differing.
My point is that even if the movies out there are great, the books are almost always better. If your favorite movie is based off of a book, try reading it. You will most likely be more pleased with the words rather than the pictures.
Here's some examples of movies based on books:

What to Read if You're a Teen
What do teens even read? A teen who doesn't want any of that fake, mythical stuff, or some over-dramatic romance novel? A teen who doesn't want to read bibliographies of dead people. What are teens supposed to read? The answer is fiction. Here comes the next question, though: How do you find teen fiction books that aren't boring as a rock? I have an answer for that too: John Green! Author John Green targets young readers in adventurous stories in his books : Looking For Alaska, The Fault in our Stars, Paper Towns, An Abundance of Katherines, Will Grayson, Will Grayson, and Let it Snow. The Fault in our Stars is even going to be made into a movie releasd this June.

Where to go??
Are you ever in need of a good book? Do you ever have trouble finding one? Where do you look? Books can be sold anywhere, really, but a store with a good selection is important to finding a book that suits you.
In my opinion, if you love to read you should check out Schuler Books.
The wide open selection of books and genres at Schuler's is phenomenal. Not only can you shop for books, you can sell the store your old books! This is a great advantage. Since Schuler's recycles your old books, they also sell used books. You can search their collection of used books and get them at a cheaper price. This means that even if you just have a few dollars! Books shouldn't be expensive if you only read them once, right?
Check out your local Schuler Books, you'll be glad you did (:
